Juan A. Pérez

Juan A. Pérez was born in Carrión de los Céspedes (Sevila) where he begins his studies at a very early age in the local music school in the specialty of clarinet, perfecting his studies with Pepe Benítez and José Antonio López León. In 1998, he became part of the Banda de Música de Carrión de los Céspedes, becoming the youngest musician to enter the band, at the 8 years old.

In the year 2000, he entered Music Conservatory Cristóbal de Morales becoming the youngest student of the last years and obtaining the second best grade of Andalucía. Later, he finished his clarinet studies with Juan Rivera and composition with Ramón Respaldo.

During his time at the Music Conservatory Francisco Guerrero, becomes part of the Big Band Francisco Guerrero, directed by Javier Ortí, outstanding jazz musician and saxophone teacher.

He has held the position of director of the Banda de Música de Carrión de los Céspedes between 2011 and 2013, becoming the youngest director of such training in its more than 200 years of history. It emphasizes its participation in several Symphonic Bands, like the Young Symphony Orchestra of Andalucía or the Javier Perianes Symphonic Band of Huelva.

Today, it belongs to the clarinet quartet “The Quartet Clarinet”, native of his hometown. He is a composer and arranger in SMP, Jellynote and in the prestigious Dutch publishing house “Molenaar Edition”.
